Starting in September, thousands of Texas children will be spared sexual mutilation from permanently disfiguring “gender re-assignment” surgeries, sterilization, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormone treatments, thanks to a humane new law signed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
On June 2, Abbott signed Senate Bill 14, making the Lone Star State the most populous state to prohibit “gender affirming” sex-change treatment, which is really the cruel and irresponsible indulgence of a “dysphoria,” a bad feeling, that is overwhelmingly likely to be transitory. The new law is aimed at rogue doctors who want to practice Joseph Mengele-level experimentation on the bodies and genitals of Texas children.
It will stop the nation’s largest pediatric hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, from offering “gender-modification” procedures to minors. Both Texas Children’s Hospital, with 973 beds, and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, with 490 beds, currently profit from the sexual mutilation of minor children.
The new law bans surgeries that sterilize children by removing parts of their reproductive systems. It prohibits mastectomies for girls; it disallows the prescribing of drugs that induce temporary or permanent infertility, such as cross-sex hormones, and it prohibits removing any healthy or non-diseased body part.
The Lone Star State joins 17 other states now restricting “gender transitioning” for children. The Texas law will go into effect on September the First; children currently on cross-sex hormones will have to be weaned off those drugs. Doctors who perform sexual mutilation “surgeries” can lose their medical licenses; the Attorney General will be charged with enforcing the law.
Christopher J. Rufo, a prominent opponent of cultural Marxism, including Marxist gender ideology, was instrumental in convincing Texans to contact their legislators and ask them to support the measure. State lawmakers, including Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and Attorney General Ken Paxton, have also been active in promoting the measure.

With the normalization of homosexuality, the Left spent 40 years changing the culture. Carefully designed propaganda shows like “Will & Grace” misrepresented homosexuality, and especially its incidence in the population; people who watched a lot of television in the 1990s and 2000s believe that about 40% of the population are gay, and homosexual relationships are just like straight marriage—neither of which is true. But the propaganda had the intended result of creating widespread acceptance of same-sex sexual activity and homosexual “marriage.”
In 2015, immediately after the Supreme Court mandated same-sex “marriage” on the states, the Marxist elites began imposing transgenderism ideology. And since they knew that they mostly control government, the big woke corporations, the professions, the NGOs, and the transnational organizations, and completely control our cultural institutions—academia, media, Hollywood, publishing, museums, foundations, etc.—they did not think they needed to take the time to convince the larger population of the merits of transgender ideology. They decided that, in the case of transgender ideology, they would dispense with the four-decade-long propaganda operation that had led up to the acceptance and normalization same-sex “marriage.” They would just cram transgenderism down our throats.
But, again, they got ahead of themselves. The people are not for it. People understand the inherent insanity and cruelty of permanently disfiguring minor children over a bad feeling about their sexual identity that is overwhelmingly likely to be a passing fancy. (Even adults who transitioned in early middle age—like Scott Newgent in Matt Walsh’s superb documentary, “What is a Woman”—have expressed profound regrets later on.)
A recent Washington Post poll found that nearly 70% of Americans oppose giving puberty blockers to children, and nearly 60% percent oppose giving transgender hormone treatments to teenagers. Nearly 80% said it was inappropriate for teachers to discuss gender identity with students up through the third grade, and 52% percent said it was inappropriate for teachers to discuss gender identity even with middle-schoolers. Nearly 70% object to biological men competing against women in high school and college sports. Even where it concerned adults, transgender ideology has not won over the people: nearly 60% said that biological sex determines “gender.”
I would argue that the Covid episode reinforced popular resistance to gender ideology. As I discussed here and here, the medical profession and its ancillary institutions—FDA, CDC, AMA, HHS—were not on our side during Covid, baselessly slandering safe and inexpensive out-of-hospital therapeutics like hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, and then implementing an in-hospital protocol that seemed designed to kill as many as possible. Perhaps worst of all, the doctors allowed the teachers’ unions and public officials to keep small children masked up, when Covid posed no risk to children, and children need to see faces to develop properly. This was pure sadism directed toward little children.
The Covid saga was a clear illustration that the “authorities,” including authority figures like physicians, do not always have the best interests of children foremost in their minds. The medical profession, like all other professions, is driven by money, and there are billions to made off of making thousands of little Frankenstein “transgender” monsters, starting as young as possible. So when a doctor comes to you telling you that your daughter should have her breasts cut off to make her body match her gender du jour, you don’t need to believe him. He does not necessarily have your child’s best interests at heart.
It ought to be very clear where we, as Seventh-day Adventist Christians, should stand on this issue. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Gen. 1:27; 5:2. “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?” Mat. 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9.
Male and female are in the image of God—no other “genders” are—and God assigns your sex and gender to you at conception. God’s purpose in creating us male and female is marriage and reproduction. Transforming yourself into a Frankenstein monster frustrates God’s purpose for your life and is bold rebellion against God’s created sexual order.
Yes, male and female is a creational distinction, just like the difference between Sabbath and Sunday. If we think we will take our stand upon the latter distinction after not having stood on the former, we are deceived.
