Last month, Fulcrum7 reported on Pastor Garrison Hayes appearing in a political attack video for Joe Biden.
Our concern with Hayes appearing in the video was not that he has a preference for who should be President of the United States. Lots of people have preferences one way or another — that’s ok. Our concern was that a minister of the Gospel was devoting his time to political distractions, when he was/is being paid by the faithful tithe of Seventh-day Adventist members. This is wrong. You are not serving the Lord well in such distractions, nor honoring the mighty Advent Message. That goes for each of us, not just Pastor Garrison Hayes.
Guess what? He’s back. On October 30th, a 4.5 minute Youtube video was released titled “Let America Be America Again.” At the 4:33 minute mark, the video states that Garrison Hayes is the co-director of the film.
At around the 0:42 minute mark, a gay couple is shown while the words “Let America be…that great strong land of love” are narrated in the film.
Around the 3:42 minute mark, the same homosexual couple is shown in each others arms while the narrator says “Oh yes I say it plain, America never was America to me, and yet I swear this oath, America will be…!”
The message conveyed throughout the video is that America never was great or desirable, but will be—when homosexality, illegal immigration, BLM, and unfettered Islam achieve prominence (actually, many of these groups are already prominent in progressive American culture). The current U.S. President is represented in the video as standing in the way of these intersectional ‘aggrieved’ groups.
Pastor Hayes also shared a version of this video that he directed on his Facebook Page on October 30, 2020, shortly before the election, stating "Let America Be America Again. #vote". He is a one man PAC (political action group).
“The Lord would have His people bury political questions. On these themes silence is eloquence” (SPCCSR 104.2).
My friend, it would be even more eloquent to teach what the Bible says about human sexuality. It is not loving to affirm someone in their same-sex lust for another person. It is not loving to tell someone that because of the color of their skin they are either in an oppressed class, or they are part of an oppressor class. It is not loving to lead people from their hope in the Advent Message and the Second Coming of Christ to a new racialized partisan political religion.
It’s not loving to say to people, “I want to affirm you for being a hyphenated Christian.” It is not loving to affirm people on the road to hell.
It is loving to say “Stop, let’s look at what the Word of God says!” If an SDA pastor can’t do that, he isn’t a pastor anymore. He is a minister of darkness, leading people into more darkness.
Turn from this course, my brother, before it’s too late. The remnant Church of Jesus Christ needs you. The false church of political activism will destroy you with its disruptive destructive agenda, casting you to the ground when it has consumed your soul.
