How Would Jesus vote?

I have a felony on my record. It means I can't vote. However, if I could...

I am not political. Not at all. If I could vote I would only vote for issues and principled, temperate people.  We become responsible for the choices that the politicians make that we vote for.  And when I say responsible, I mean we will give account on the day of Judgment for what the person we supported did with the power we gave them.  For example if I voted for Nero or Hitler, I would be a partaker in their crimes (1 Tim. 5:22).  Please remember this.

So you have several candidates that are immoral with corrupt fruit.  You would rather see one over another, but no one is just right?  What do you do?  God never requires we choose between the lesser of two evils.  Never! (Christ was tempted like we are and was never in that situation).  There is ALWAYS another option that is righteous and holy.  It may be that you withhold your vote or write-in someone.  But you complain that is a wasted vote.  How so?  Who is counting the votes that really matters?  God is.  You have been given the light.  You are responsible to Him first.  If Constantine or Marx gets elected, what is that to you?  Both of them may work to establish religious laws (read: Sunday laws) and pressure you to compromise your faith.  Church and State could be united.

I admit it.  I broke down and watched the rerun of the Detroit debate, albeit at high-speed on YouTube.  My heart sunk.  The thought of our nation in the hands of any one of these men, none of whom may respect the free exercise and establishment causes of the Constitution . . .  I love America.  But I love Jesus more.  The kingdoms of this world will pass away.  His kingdom never will.

And one last thought: Have you ever heard of a cult of personality?  One of the candidates that I see many Christ-followers supporting is, in my opinion, a leader of such a following.  He provides no intelligent answers but resorts to brutish ad hominem attacks when he doesn't have an answer.  He repeats himself constantly when he lacks substance.  And last night I heard him say that he will rule by absolute authority ("If I say do it, they’re going to do it. That’s what leadership is all about"), even if it is illegal.

You can't save America. And if you will fight for her, do so with integrity and a clean conscience.

"They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.  And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me" (John 16:2-3).
