Many people around the nation believe that America has been given a critical window of opportunity to repent and return to God.
To that end, thousands will gather on the Washington Mall to participate in a movement called “The Return,” set for Sept. 26, 2020, in Washington, D.C., to pray for our nation and its people.
The movement is largely the brainchild of ’Rabbi’ Jonathan Cahn, author of The Harbinger, and Kevin Jessip.
Cahn was raised in a Jewish home, the son of a Holocaust refugee, and attended the synagogue
frequently as a boy. At age 20 he became a Messianic Jew, believing that Jesus is the Messiah. Rabbi Cahn is a charismatic speaker and preacher, seen by some as a voice crying in the wilderness, and by others as a doomsday MAGA prophet who likens President Trump to Jehu.
Announcing the call to prayer in a letter on The Return website, Cahn and co-chairman Kevin Jessip, president of the Global Strategic Alliance wrote:
“The Return is for all believers who love the Lord from all denominations and backgrounds, black, white, Spanish, Asian, men, women, youth, children, Jew and Gentile, everyone.”
The live September 26 event will take place at the National Mall in Washington DC and will be streamed around the world. This date is 40 days before the election and on the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower.
The Return begins with individuals seeking God’s forgiveness and culminates in the “Ten Days of Prayer and Repentance,” September 18-28, 2020. The Ten Days begin with the Feast of Trumpets and ends with the Day of Atonement. Cahn warns that America’s course is heading to judgment, and has stated that the nation and the world is at a juncture that can permanently seal its future for bad or good, calamity or revival.
Other notable speakers at The Return are Dr. James Dobson, Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz; Martin Luther King’s niece, Alveda King; Kevin Jessip; Michele Bachmann; Marcus Lamb; Bishop Harry Jackson; Gordon Robertson—and many, many more.
We should support genuine revival and repentance, both in our lives and in the lives of others. We should pray for one another; we should pray for our nation; we should pray for its leaders; we should pray for our families. Such is the result of the work of the Spirit of God. We should not be distracted by political crusades be they left or right, friends. We have seen too much of that in our own Division.
If this movement is the real deal in its call to repentance, may God be with them. If this movement is born of emotional or political excitement, or a mingling of the true with the false, that can only mislead. It is interesting to me that this movement arises just as unrestrained violence & evil defile cities in our land.
We will be observing this day of prayer. Some Adventists will be on hand to pass out Modern Revivals booklets to attendees. This booklet will link to a site with the entire Great Controversy and revival truth. Pray that these books find their way into the hands of honest-hearted seekers of truth.
