A couple weeks ago, a group of homosexuals who call themselves Adventists met in Switzerland to celebrate axiological rebellion against God’s gender binary and created sexual order.
They wouldn’t phrase it that way of course, but when a group of people get together to celebrate homosexuality, what else can we call it but moral and biological rebellion?
According to Adventist Press Service in Switzerland, this pro-homosexual meeting was,
"organized by Seventh-day-Adventist Kinship Europe", a private organization that has been actively supporting queer people in the Adventist Church.”
One of the presentations at this homosexual support meeting acknowledged that there is a 500% higher incidence of mental illness and depression among LGBTQ individuals. There are of course reasons for this.
Unresolved moral failure results in 13 biblical consequences. Two of those consequences are depression and calamity.
The depression comes from guilt, condemnation (shame) and fear, three consequences that God allows into our heart if we transgress His Moral Law. These three consequences hurt, and they are intended to wake us up to the danger of our decision and lead us to repentance. God, in His goodness, allows these consequences to remind us that we are in danger and in need of Him. This is true for any moral failure, including adultery, fornication, homosexuality etc. What makes homosexuality even worse is western culture’s attempt to justify it as an innate characteristic that can’t be helped.
If a person chooses not to resolve their moral failure (through repentance), they will experience additional consequences, such as financial loss, depression, immorality in their family, calamity, and deceit. The truth will begin to die in their heart, and they will experience a sense of hopelessness, which is what depression is—a loss of hope. Depression is a secondary consequence, it never just exists on its own without cause. Like anger, something is driving it in your life.
The good news is that the aforementioned consequences can be resolved through confession, honesty and repentance. If you resolve moral failure from the heart through repentance, truth will ride back into your life, accompanied by freedom, cleansing and joy. You can’t have joy and depression simultaneously, it’s either one or the other. “In God’s presence, there is fullness of joy” (Psalm 16:11). You can get free from the lies of the enemy.
This pro-homosexual meeting in Aeschiried, Switzerland sought to justify the above consequences, with Ruedi Brodbeck saying that LGBTQ individuals are victims of discrimination and exclusion, and that’s why they experience 500% higher mental illness, depression and suicide rates. This is untrue. This does nothing to help a person come to moral freedom, instead, seeing yourself as a victim will turn the above consequences into permanent problems. That is not God’s will for your life, friend.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord” (Isaiah 55:6-8).
