As the number of young people identifying as transgender or gender-confused increases each year, some are now coming forward with stories of deep regret.
One of those people is Luka Hein, a 20-year-old female who began medically transitioning into a male at 16 and got a double mastectomy. She is now going through de-transition, saying that after growing up and maturing, there was an “I made a big mistake” moment about messing up her young life and damaging her ability to have children.
Gender transitioning is a ‘neuter culture.’
It's helpful to define the terms. Verywellhealth.com says “Transgender people are people who feel that their gender identity is different from the gender associated with our science sex at birth. When a transgender person chooses to undergo a process to align to their ‘felt’gender, that is called gender transitioning. An individual may go through social transition by changing their name and pronouns—we've seen that in our culture. Of course, medical transition is by changing their body through hormone therapy or surgery.
Luka was born a female, pretended to be a man through medical transitioning and is now de-transitioning back to female. It is our hope that she finds Jesus Christ and with Him, peace and freedom (John 10:10).
Commentary
Many people regret tattoos that they got when they were young. This has to be even worse for people regretting transition surgery and puberty blockers.
Our culture has been proudly touting gender transitioning as a solution, when it’s actually the problem. As medical gender transitions become more common, so too have been regrets for undergoing them.
In order to be an effective decision maker, you must weigh the pros and cons of every issue. We should not ignore the devastating consequences of transitioning in the name of " inclusivity" or momentary feelings.
Let us pray for those who are struggling with gender dysphoria. There is hope in Christ for everyone who is struggling with this. May they find Truth to break any lies in their life, and may they find freedom and joy in Him (Psalm 16:11).
