Mark Weir was voted out as Dakota Conference president at the 11th Regular Constituency meeting on June 2.
Replacing him is Vernon Herholdt with a 70% vote. Apparently, 30% voted either to keep Weir or they abstained from voting. Either way, he was replaced by a landslide vote.
We are told that the Dakota executive committee and numerous constituents in the Dakota Conference wanted someone “easier to work with”, whatever that means. Other sources indicate that the previous president tended to be “dismissive.”
Whatever the issues were, we congratulate the Dakota Conference for recognizing that change is needed, and making that change happen. This is exactly what Conferences should do, and it is what constituency meetings are for—to hold leaders accountable.
Never forget, conference presidents work only at the behest of the people. They are under-shepherds under the Good Shepherd.
If they ain’t real good, replace them.
