Yesterday, there was a report on the Gaithersburg SDA Facebook page that the rented church they use had been entered and stripped of all electronic equipment and chairs etc.
Today, the Gaithersburg Church issued this statement regarding what they call “looting” of the church.
Spanish version:
Here are some pictures posted on the Iglesia Adventista del Septimo Dia (Gaithersburg) Facebook page. They appear to be “before and after” pictures:
Remember, all this is happening because the Gaithersburg SDA church invited an ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister to preach to them.
The elders of the Church asked the pastor for a document from the Potomac Conference stating that he had their permission to ‘loot’ the church building. According to the Gaithersburg Church Statement, he did not have such a document.
We reached out to the Potomac Conference regarding this action, and have not heard back from them yet.
Gaithersburg SDA statement:
“Gaithersburg Spanish SDA Church stays together despite adversity and obstacles. They have stripped us of all the belongings of the church, but they will never strip us of the presence of God. We do not doubt that the Lord will provide everything necessary to start from scratch again and will continue to guide us until we reach the Heavenly Canaan.”
It looks like their spirits are strong in spite of the trials they are enduring. Material things can be replaced, but no one can take away the grace of God in their lives.
Perhaps a GiveSendGo page could be started for this congregation as they rebuild what was taken from them.
