ADRA is causing a bit of controversy on their Facebook page by asking church members to sign a pledge to import more refugees, including 50,000 Muslim refugees currently being held in Greece.
Over the last two months, ADRA has sent out numerous appeals--to people on their social media mailing list--to support the resettlement of Muslim refugees in America. They are in support of the United Nations UDHR Declaration and many other UN initiatives. This has generated heavy discussion on their Facebook page. Here are some of the comments from those opposing this petition:
Concerned Comments from Adventist Church Members
"Why is a supporting ministry of the SDA Church advocating a liberal agenda?
They have a country; they should go back home and fight for it.
Feed them and clothe them if they need it, but they are not welcome in any country they wish to infiltrate.
Just take a look at what they have done to the countries in Europe. Countries like Sweden where rape has gone through the roof since allowing in the Muslim "refugees". Or the UK where they cloister and throw rocks at the police if they dare enter "their" turf.
I can not support this petition."
No. Support them in their own country. Not here. Not Europe. Islam is too disparate with anything in the West. Furthermore it is not just a religion, it is a political philosophy with a take no prisoners mentality. We as Christians should be converting Islam, when the Holy Spirit directs. This is a political statement agreeing with a globalist agenda. Shame on the SDA Establishment
Um no I won't be signing, and I don't want them sent here either, not after seeing all the BS they been pulling in Europe.
This is a COMPLETELY different thing this is organized & 85% of them are men of fighting age. Consider this when they have multiple wives all of them are eligible for government freebies. This is a massive drain on our countries resources & the tax payers are the ones who have to pay for it. It is also a way of tanking our economy. The incidences of rape have sky rocketed in the EU countries that have taken them in. The refugees according to their culture believe it is their RIGHT to rape women, & perform ethnic cleansings. I am sorry but I do not support bringing them in. So I do not support this. There is a saying we should never do for people what they can & should do for themselves. 1st rule of nursing. Help them where they are. Help them in their own country. I am sorry but I am not willing to put my daughters & GRANDdaughters @ risk. The things they are doing to women are horrendous & evil. God will not stand for this long.
Why is ADRA International quoting from a United Nations document? This is a political statement. It seeks to overthrow the sovereignty of nations which have the right to secure their borders. Meanwhile, powerful men and women conspire to break down the laws of individual nations. What choice is left? Submission to sharia law, or anarchy, or that of a global organization that recognizes the pope as global moral leader?
Refugees, or terrorists? They need to be vetted well before letting them out. I'm sorry for my feelings, but reality is, many of them want nothing more than to hurt people who are not of their beliefs.
ADRA's Responses
ADRA International Every country and culture has crime. Considering the large number of people seeking refuge in Europe, the amount of bad behavior has been very minimal.
A lot of people are under the impression that refugees as a whole are illegally entering countries, but refugees are not immigrants. Immigrants choose to leave their country; refugees are forced to flee because of threats they face in their home country. Their status or determination as refugees is based on their personal circumstances, not the situation in the host country. The US and 141 other countries have signed on to the 1951 Refugee Convention and 1967 Protocol. These signatory countries have a duty to provide protection to refugees in their territory, and are bound not to return them to a country where they would face a threat.
We are posting a few things every day with much more detail, as well as these quick snippets, and will be throughout the rest of June in support of World Refugee Day and the church's own refugee Sabbath on June 18.
Refugees are not "illegal immigrants"
As you can see, ADRA's close involvement with the UN is raising questions about possible political entanglements. I have questions too. The United Nations--which is three parts corruption and one part incompetence--is a strong advocate of current geopolitical social trends, including homosexuality, environmentalism, and social justice. Here is ADRA's statement regarding their close alignment with the United Nations:
For decades, ADRA has maintained a strong partnership with agencies of the United Nations. By supporting UN initiatives and implementing programs on the ground, ADRA and the UN work jointly to meet the needs of the world’s poorest. Through our membership in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), we participate in discussions on innovative thinking and sustainable development.
Let us not forsake our Christian duty as the Good Book says "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10). And let us not forsake wisdom, as we minister to the "household of faith" first, and secondly, to use humanitarianism as a means of making disciples for Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). That is something that the United Nations can not and will not do.
Only we can do the Great Commission, mates, and we can surely do it better if we un-yoke ourselves from organisations like the United Nations (Colossians 2:8).
