In 1974, Time Magazine ran a story titled “Another Ice Age?” This was followed in April, 1975 by a Newsweek story by Peter Gwynne titled “The Cooling World.”

I remember that period of time well, being 14 and 15 respectively. The 1970’s saw a series of cold winters, culminating in the Blizzard of 1978—an exclamation point on a decade-long cooling period. So, liberals and scientists and political pundits (redundant, I know), and amateur prophets tried to get out in front of climatological trends, by articles such as the two cited above.

Their answer—of course—was massive government intrusion over our lives. But the weather moderated somewhat (as it usually does) and we moved into the 1980’s and people calmed down. The satellite data did not support their cooling claim.

After catching their moderately warming breath, this same group of liberals and scientists now said that the earth was warming. Their solution again was massive government control over our lives. When the satellite data did not support their claim of Global Warming (no appreciable warming for the last 19-years) they (liberals and some scientists) came up with a third option: Climate Change.

Their solution—wait for it—is massive government control over our lives. Climate Change is a perfectly named agenda for their desire for control, because the climate is always changing.

Although the Climate Change Agenda (and it is an agenda) has had remarkable success at instilling fear and uneasiness among government school children and general liberals, it hasn’t moved at a pace that satisfies these geopolitical control freaks. So they keep inventing ever more fearful predictions. Here’s a couple of my favorites,

• “By 1999 the U.S. population will have declined to 22.6 million” (Paul Ehrich, 1968).

• “Global Warming will cause prostitution and sex trafficking” (California Democrat Barbara Lee – April 30, 2013).

• “The threat of a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery for mankind” (Nigel Calder, 1969).

• “Not stopping CAGW will be catastrophic. We‘ll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow! Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals (Ted Turner, 2008). (Strictly speaking, this is not a failed prophecy. It could take another 20 years before our Church-going, pie-baking neighbors come after us for their noon day meal.)

• “Global Warming/Climate change will cause massive boulders to leap out of the ocean onto dry land, endangering millions” (James “Hockey Stick” Hansen, November 2015).

So what does any of this mean? Your guess is as good as mine, but here's mine:

The point is to do or say something that will reignite panic over global warming. It used to be that islands would end up under water or something. All of this is hard to sustain when we haven't had any measurable global warming for the past 19 years and people are losing their inclination to take the global alarmists seriously. So they keep revving up the prediction mill to ignite more panic among the gullible masses.

Confused? So are they.

The Pope, ever eager to exploit a situation into more control for the Vatican, has also jumped on this bandwagon and grabbed the reins in his Roman manicured hands. He is currently the (self-generated of course) global moral authority on weather patterns, and millions are ceding control to him, including many in our own “religious liberty” department (which has essentially become a leftist liberty department). Not to be outdone, various countries and cities, feeling spurned by the current American presidential administration in the Paris Climate Treaty are declaring “Climate Emergencies”, voted into place by their agenda-driven governing bodies. Some notable ones,

So what is the goal of all this? You guessed it—massive government control over your life. Now, who stands to gain in this globally manufactured panic?

The political supporters of this agenda. Leftists around the world are joining hands in a multicultural group hug. Politics means power when you dupe the masses.
The moral supporters of this agenda. That would be the Pope, and well-meaning but severely misguided people who are interpreting the Bible in new green ways. If you control morality, you control the world. It would be ‘immoral’ to oppose you. And climate change is your fault anyway. The Pope says so.

Prefabbed Paranoia

There have always been paranoias around, and more are being manufactured all the time. You may remember a few,

The Ozone Hole will kill us all. Freon is evil.
Lead paint is coming to get you.
Radon will kill you quicker ‘n scat.
Asbestos will kill all of us.
Nuclear energy will make your hair glow—right before it kills you.
Acid Rain will melt the paint off of your car and the skin off of your body.
Styrofoam causes violent crime!

Notice that all of the propaganda and distortions come from a common source—radical leftist environmentalism. But there’s a big difference in this Climate Change Paranoia—YOU are to blame for it. That’s huge.

Summary

The so-called “green transformation” of the world toward centralized control and global governance is now “unstoppable” and “irreversible,” claimed the UN environmental czar after a UN summit in Rwanda. The Pope concurs.

Global warming is on its way to destroy us. And only recycling and green energy can save us from the climate apocalypse. Its truths are infallible because they are prophesized by PhD’s wielding hockey stick graphs and vicars of Christ armed with Douehy Reims Bibles, flanked by social justice warriors the world over. And this paranoia is different—it is your fault.

Their god is Homo Progressivus, born an ape and ascending to singularity synthesis via false religion. Their heaven is a social justice dystopia where skeptics are scorned on Twitter and visited with global inquisition. Their saints are the false prophets of alarmism, and social justice warriors — eyes fired with the insanity of their new green religion.

There are already calls around the world to mandate a day of rest to help the earth. We will be watching this green tidal wave as it gains momentum. You should too.
