Martyn Iles from Australia weighs in on the Climate Change debate from a distinct Christian worldview. Some excerpts:
For months now, this issue [climate change] has been dominating the news cycle. Power prices, drought, fires, extinction rebellion, Greta Thunberg etc.
I want to ask the question, what are Christians to make of all this? Some will say, “Well, we are supposed to be stewards of creation, therefore we can partner with this movement because there is some good in it.”
Is being stewards of creation the same as going along with the climate change debates? The answer is—and this is really important, before I go into the detail—no, it is not. You can have a concern about one, and it is still foolish to get involved in the other, and I’ll tell you why. The climate change debate as we know it, is NOT motivated by Christian concern for stewardship. It is motivated by something strongly anti-Christian. It is not grounded in Truth.
First consider its fruits. Use the holy Spirit to analyze its fruits. Secondly, understand the ideology that underpins the climate change movement. Observe their statements and claims, observe their predictions over the years—all of which are welcomed with much fanfare by secular leaders and media personalities. All of these predictions have been wildly incorrect.
Climate change alarmism is one of the many suits of clothes that is being worn by Marxism.
Cultural Marxism is power struggles between groups, race, gender, male/female, sexuality, able and disabled etc. Marxism is ugly, it only knows how to tear down and destroy, that’s what it’s for. It only knows resentment and hate. That’s why they are violent; that’s why they engage in civil disobedience.
Reject the Climate Change view of the world, and you are a mass-deluded, racist sexist denialist, from whom the world needs to be liberated.
Such clarity from a 31-year old believer begs the question: Where are the young Adventists with such historical insight and wisdom? We could use a few more of them.
