As long as Black Lives Matter protesters are permitted to do whatever they want in Portland, Oregon, eventually they scream themselves out, toddle on home to get some sleep and then come back to burn & scream another day.
Yesterday (Saturday) while rioters previously attacked federal buildings, businesses, and even officers, they found a new target: Bibles.
A video posted to Twitter on Saturday shows rioters holding Black Lives Matter signs tossing Bibles and an American flag into a fire. Bystanders stood and watched as the flames licked away at the pages of the books.
Later in the Twitter thread, Cheong pointed out that the violent and chaotic nature of these protestors is not correlated with “protesting against police brutality.”
“I don’t know what burning the Bible has to do with protesting against police brutality. Do not be under the illusion that these protests and riots are anything but an attempt to dismantle all of Western Civilization and upend centuries of tradition and freedom of religion,” he continued.
Other observers acknowledged that burning Bibles confirms what many have thought all along about the riots.
“There is a purpose to this. The protesters are signaling they will dismantle and replace our whole entire narrative,” tweeted another user.
The Portland riots have been raging since George Floyd’s death in early May, even before “the ramped-up federal presence.” While many have claimed that these riots are “largely peaceful,” “gunfire, arson, stabbings, and other violence followed rioters” well through Saturday morning.
Some people (even Adventists) defend the Black Lives Matter fervor sweeping our country as a legitimate moral expression of goodwill. In keeping with the previous North American Division (NAD) President’s 2018 statement that social justice IS the gospel, the NAD has released several articles and zoom meetings defending BLM.
In spite of a plethora of articles explaining a connection between the BLM organization, Marxism, and the LBGTQ agenda, social justice warriors in the Church continue to defend their participation in BLM activities. One wonders if burning Bibles is a bridge too far for them. Or will they justify themselves again by saying “There’s extremists in every group”? They might—indeed some already have.
But anyone who thinks this is about peaceful protesting” should think about the message left for police in Portland on Thursday night – a pig’s head wearing a police hat, placed on an American flag, and set on fire, left at the city’s Justice Center.
Here is a comment sent to Fulcrum7 by a fellow Adventist in Nigeria. There are many more like him:
“I'm quite concerned about recent events in your country. It's even more terrifying the fact that some Adventist leaders are identifying with this group.
How hard can it be to figure out that BLM is anti-Christian.
I'm an avid, but silent reader of F7. I just pray that Christ hasten His Coming.”
Amen, brother. Amen.
