Potomac Conference President Changes Famous Ellen White Quote

Charles A. Tapp, of the Potomac Conference spoke on July 6 at the Northeastern Conference Campmeeting.

He took a famous quote from Ellen White in Education, page 57, and replaced the word men with pastors. This was no doubt done to further the feminist agenda of liberal Adventism and the Potomac Conference. Here is the original quote as Ellen White (a woman) wrote it,

“The greatest want of the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold; men who in their inmost souls are true and honest; men who do not fear to call sin by its right name; men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole; men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall” (Education, p. 57).

Here is Tapp’s version,

“The greatest want of the world is the want of pastors—pastors who will not be bought or sold; pastors who in their inmost souls are true and honest; pastors who do not fear to call sin by its right name; pastors whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole; pastors who will stand for the right though the heavens fall” (Education, p. 57).

Summary

A woman, inspired by God, wrote the above quote in Education in 1903. The Lord revealed that one of the great lacks in the end times would be men of courage, principle and Godly leadership. This is a powerful indictment of western culture ravaged by feminism—it is even quoted in Forbes Magazine, so penetrating is its call for men to find their strength in God.

Ellen writes the statement and Tapp, who has long been a supporter of WO and cultural feminism, changes it to fit his agenda. In the process, he demonstrates that this quote is still true, today.

The greatest lack in our world is the lack of Godly men. Men, if you have been passive in your families, lax in your souls, untrue to duty, soft on sin, and sitting down on the job, it is time to stand. That goes for you and I too, Mr. Tapp.

Confess that you have neglected your duty as a man. Ask God to forgive you. Ask for His strength to be yours, and allow Him to rebuke sin in your life. Call for Him to lead you in paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3) and break the stronghold of weakness that has settled around you. He will do it.

And you too, will stand for the right, though the heavens fall.
