According to the The Collegian, two transgender individuals were interviewed about their experiences living in Walla Walla University dorms. One is a transgender non-binary individual who lived in the women’s residence hall before deciding to move off campus. The other is a non-binary individual who is currently living in a residence hall. (Non-binary is another word for people who are confused about who God created them to be.)
Complaints
One transgender complained that overly feminine language was used in the women’s dorms. Because of that, she felt excluded.
Too much gendered wording is used in the dorms, according to these dysphoric individuals.
According to the article, both complained that the University placed them in dormitories that coincided with their biological birth identity. They consider this mis-gendering.
They also complained that they have to constantly assert their identity to others, and that can be ‘exhausting’.
They want the University to provide a Transgender Floor in the dormitory (how long until that happens?).
One of the transgenders feels that the University administration tends to sideline the LGBTQ+ community, and doesn’t make decisions about what to do until the very last minute because they think it’s such a minimal issue. One says, Transgender students are already very much here.
Commentary
We sympathize with schools and universities that have to deal with this kind of axiological rebellion against God’s creation. One thing that our universities can do to help align themselves with biblical truth on sexuality is to stop accepting government funds, especially funds that come with Title IX strings attached. Cut off the funds, quickly. Ask the Lord to bless and guide your courageous decision. He will.
Secondly, they should adopt a statement that as a Christian institution they follow the two gender creation pattern exclusively (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:21—25; 4:1-2; 5:1—4; Matthew 19:4-6). Thirdly, they should insert a required class on biblical sexuality into a biology or religion course.
God created humanity in two distinct genders: male and female. Any attempt to confuse these two genders is rebellion against the Creation order; pretending to be something you are not is harmful to your heart, and becomes biological hypocrisy.
Hypocrites (those to pretend to be something on the outside that they aren’t on the inside) will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 24:51; Mark 7:6; Matthew 23;27).
If a person says to you tomorrow, “I’m Napoleon Bonaparte” we reply “You need some mental help.” If a 6’-4” man with hair all over his body says “I’m a woman” we reply “You need spiritual help.” Both responses are correct.
God cares about us as people, and calls us to repent of hypocrisy, renounce lies about our gender, and repent of our rebellion towards God’s Creation order. When we do, peace, freedom and joy will result. Truth rides into our life to stay.
