Steve Wohlberg has done the world and the Church a favor by advancing the truth of the Book of Revelation with a solid historicist interpretative approach.
The chapter, “The Beast Fights Back,” is of deep interest. Steve reveals nine false arguments about 666 (some are even used by influential SDAs today). There is also some background information revealing why SDA evangelists should cease from quoting the 1915 “Our Sunday Visitor” to prove that Catholics have admitted that Vicarious Filii Dei was written on the Popes mitre. Some thorough detective work reveals that this is a mistake that actually plays into Rome’s hands. There is a better, more up to date source that you will find interesting.
Steve discusses the sin of pride in this book, masterfully revealing that only the humble will make it into heaven.
In the appendix section is a critical document that was voted in the 1940’s to be printed by the General Conference on this topic. That document was never printed, but you will find it in the back of this book.
Steve is also keenly aware of a certain 2002 Sabbath School quarterly that drifted from our historic position on Revelation 13:18, planting seeds of doubt in our church. His book addresses that particular proposed alternative view along with many other false interpretations that sometimes infiltrate Adventist theology.
In summary, the book is a compelling blend of history, redemption and prophecy, revealing that the Advent hope is very much alive and unalterably rooted in Scripture.
